How to clean your menstrual cup

This is the first step you should follow before inserting a menstrual cup.

01. First things first
Wash your hands please

Did you know that failing to wash your hands before using a menstrual cup can disrupt the delicate balance of the universe? Scientists estimate that not washing your hands properly before dealing with a menstrual cup can cause infections. So, it’s important to wash your hands with soap and warm water. You can single-handedly save humanity from world-ending catastrophes.

It’s also a good idea to make sure that your menstrual cup is clean and sterilized before use. This can be done by boiling it in water for a few minutes or using a specially formulated menstrual cup cleaning solution.
By taking these simple steps to maintain proper hygiene when using a menstrual cup, you can help to keep your vaginal area healthy and prevent the risk of infection. So remember, always wash your hands before inserting your menstrual cup.

02. Boil some water in a clean pot

Prepare a pot, and some water, and let your cup enjoy a nice hot bath.

Sterilizing a menstrual cup is important for maintaining good hygiene and preventing infections. Here are the key reasons why sterilizing a menstrual cup is important:
Bacterial control: Sterilization helps eliminate bacteria, viruses, and other harmful microorganisms that may be present in the cup. This reduces the risk of developing infections, such as yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis.
Preventing cross-contamination: Menstrual cups come into direct contact with the vaginal area, which is a sensitive and susceptible area to infections. Sterilizing the cup before and after each use helps prevent cross-contamination and the introduction of foreign bacteria into the vaginal canal.
Maintenance of cup material: Proper sterilization methods, such as boiling or using sterilizing solutions, help maintain the integrity and lifespan of the cup. This ensures that the cup remains in good condition, free from potential damage or deterioration caused by inadequate cleaning practices.
Odor control: Sterilizing the menstrual cup can help eliminate odors caused by residual blood or bacteria. This helps keep the cup fresh and odor-free during use.
Peace of mind: Sterilizing the menstrual cup provides reassurance and peace of mind regarding its cleanliness. By following proper sterilization practices, users can feel confident about the safety and hygiene of using their cups.

03. put your menstrual cup in it for 10 mins

Now put your menstrual cup in the boiling water and let it boil for 10 mins. Monitor it because you don’t wanna let it stuck at the bottom or, the edge of the pot and burn. Don’t let it boil for more than 10 mins

04. remove it from the boiling water

Alright, 10 mins have passed and we can now remove the cup. But careful! It will be hot. You don’t want to burn your hand by directly touching the hot menstrual cup. Use a pair of tongs(the fast way) or just wait for the water to cool down(the slow way). After removing it from water let it dry completely.

05. storage

Finally, after all the hard work, you can now store your menstrual cup or wear it depending on you. For storing remember air-tight containers are a big no-no as your cup needs to breathe.
